With locations in both downtown Bloomington and uptown Normal, Coffee Hound has become a favorite spot for Illinois Wesleyan students.

The downtown location is about half a mile from campus, straight down Main Street. At 407 North Main Street, the shop is right next to Ivy Lane Bakery and across from Neighborhood Thrift. “It’s a really cute environment,” said Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Alex Bardouniotis.

“It’s a really good place to study, get coffee with friends, or go on a date. There are lots of shops to walk around in the area too.”

No matter when you go, Coffee Hound is always busy, whether it’s Bloomington locals or IWU students. But that’s just a testament to how good the drinks are. “Personally I’m not a coffee drinker, but they make a really good chai.” Bardouniotis said.

The shop offers plenty of seating, with tables and high tops in the front of the shop, couches in the back, and a few outdoor tables.

With a rustic interior decorated with lots of plants and paintings from local artists, Coffee Hound feels homey and warm, but not too comfortable that you won’t get anything done.

Open everyday 6:30 a.m to 4 p.m., you can almost always find guests working away on their laptops while sipping coffee.

With beans from Sirius Roasters, Coffee Hound offers your typical variety of coffees, lattes, and teas, as well as rotating seasonal specials.

The current specials are the cherries jubilee latte, the caramel passion latte and the Oh Canada maple latte.

The caramel passion, flavored with passion fruit, crushed salt and caramel, is refreshing and unique, and available for a limited time only.

Drinks are typically between $3 and $7, with the specials being a little more expensive. The shop also offers a different variety of pastries everyday, between $3 and $5, and day-old pastries for $2.

“I went there on Valentine’s Day with one of my friends, and their donuts are amazing. And I love their avocado toast.” Bardouniotis said.

The Bloomington location is also Student Senate’s Titan Connect partner, where students can visit and enter into a prize drawing.

Coffee Hound will be the partner for the rest of September, so stop by while you still have a chance to enter.
