  1. I’d love to see comments enabled on the articles on the Argus website again. I often find myself wanting to weigh in on articles, but the lack of a comment box makes it tough to engage (do I search around to see if the article is posted on Facebook? Or Instagram? Or someplace else?).

If spam is the concern, the Akismet plugin (which usually comes with WordPress) is a lifesaver—it handles the heavy lifting automatically. It would be great to have a space for alumni and students to share feedback directly on the stories.

    1. Matt, thank you for your comment! It’s current a combination of two reasons:

      1. Spam, as you discussed. Most of our comment traffic currently is just spam, and my attempts to firewall them have not been successful. So, we have all comments needing to be manually approved for the time being.
      2. When we transferred to our new website, we somehow made it so that you can’t actually read comments. Despite my efforts, I have been unable to find where I re-enable them.

If you have any other words of advice regarding WordPress, email me at cody.buskohl@gmail.com. Maybe we can work together and get comments re-enabled.
