On Nov. 6, 2025, the results of the presidential and vice-presidential Student Senate elections were announced. Brady Poisal and Muhammad Freeman have been officially elected as the new president and vice president of the Illinois Wesleyan University Student Senate for 2026.

Poisal, a political science major with minors in psychology and pre-law, has built an impressive record of service and leadership during his time at IWU. His involvement spans multiple areas, including serving as a resident advisor, founding the AWE (Awareness, Wellness and Education) RSO, working as a programmer for CAB, and holding previous leadership roles within Phi Gamma Delta and Student Senate.

Poisal shared that his vision as president centers on communication, transparency and inclusivity.

“I don’t want to lead from above. I want to lead with you,” Poisal said, “My goal is to make Student Senate more accessible, responsive and representative of all students.”

Freeman, a junior majoring in biology (pre-med), has served as a senator for three years and on the Financial Advisory Board for two. His leadership focuses on advocacy and student well-being. Freeman plans to collaborate with Sodexo to expand dining options, advocate for affordable classroom materials, promote mental health awareness and improve dorm life in partnership with Residential Life. He also aims to enhance student-athlete support and strengthen academic resources across departments.

The swearing-in ceremony for Poisal and Freeman will take place on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m., at a location yet to be announced.
