Illinois Wesleyan’s Weekly Incident Report 9/25

September 15 8:00 p.m.

Cooking oil caused a haze in the Gates Student Apartments that was caught prior to activating an alarm. The apartment had to be ventilated to remove the smoke.

September 16 7:55 p.m.

Campus Safety Officers responded to a report of vehicle damage due to a hit and run in the Shirk parking lot.

September 16 9:45 p.m.

Animal control requested the removal of a bat from the inside of Hansen Student Center.

September 18 11:00 p.m.

Campus Safety Officers investigated a report of a large outdoor party at the TKE fraternity house, but no gathering was found.

September 19 2:33 a.m.

Campus Safety Officers responded to a complaint of a loud gathering at Fricke Hall, but no large gathering was found. The occupants were asked to keep the noise down.

September 23 1:29 p.m. 

Campus Safety sent out an alert regarding several incidents that took place outside of Ames Library. In one of the encounters, an individual grabbed a female student from behind and then fled the scene. The other accidents involved students who were approached by a young man, approximately 20-25-years-old, who was asking them to be involved in  his business. Luckily, no one was injured in any of these instances and it is still uncertain whether these incidents are connected. Campus Safety advises students to be aware of this situation while they continue to investigate. 

September 24 4:35 p.m.

Campus Safety sent out a reminder that BPD will be giving out tickets if cars are parked in no parking zones or other streets around campus. They encouraged students to make an effort to follow parking guidelines.
