“My Hero Academia” isn’t just another shonen. It’s a generational anime. For many fans, it was their gateway into anime and is known as a part of the new generation of the big three. The original big three, consisting of “Naruto,” “Bleach” and “One Piece,” were the three largest anime during the 2000s, and many anime fans (like myself) grew up on them.
Similarly, fans of MHA have grown up with the show since its debut in 2014, and their journey is coming to an end. Based on the manga of the same name created by author Kōhei Horikoshi and produced by Studio Bones, MHA has been an icon of modern anime media for over a decade. And now, after years of emotional high stakes, jaw-dropping animation and heartfelt storytelling, My Hero Academia’s anime has entered its eighth and final season, having premiered on Oct. 4, 2025, and will conclude on Dec. 13, 2025.
Only four episodes in, I’ve already been blown away. The visuals have taken a massive leap in both animation quality and cinematic direction. In some scenes, I could literally feel my eyes start to water because of the phenomenal combination of cinematography, music, and animation.
I could go talk for hours about every individual episode, but it’s something readers need to experience for themselves—proof that Studio Bones intends to end this series with the love it deserves.
The new season is currently available on major streaming platforms like Crunchyroll and Hulu. Fans across social media, specifically TikTok, have turned every new episode into a global event, with each episode trending on the anime side of TikTok. With people reacting, rating and creating theories on each episode
The final season is adapting the manga’s climactic Final War Arc. Where all of the heroes face off against AFO, Shigiraki and their league of villains.
As we approach the end of this anime’s journey, it’s hard not to feel both bittersweet and grateful. “My Hero Academia” taught us that being a hero isn’t about having a quirk. It’s about heart and the courage to do the right thing. When the final episode airs, one thing’s for sure: the impact of this series will continue to inspire future generations of fans to go “Beyond, plus ultra!”
