  1. IWU debuts new Office for Campus Culture

President Zenger announced by email last week that Illinois Wesleyan University is creating a new Office of Campus Culture. The new office will focus on “cultivating a sense of community through meaningful engagement, shared learning and open dialogue.” Led by Dr. Taren Nance and Xan Daggett, the office will be in charge of transforming programs to support retention and growth opportunities for all Illinois Wesleyan students. These programs include their new 3C Series (standing for Campus Culture Conversations,) the IMPACT program for first-years and the annual Unity Gala.   1. September 23 named Illinois Wesleyan Day

On September 22, 2025, Bloomington Mayor Dan Brady issued a proclamation declaring Sept. 23 as Illinois Wesleyan Day in the city of Bloomington. 175 years ago, the 30 founders of the university created and signed a declaration of intent to establish IWU. Prior to the Kinder Brothers Distinguished Business Speaker Series event, Brady announced the proclamation and presented a framed copy to President Sheahon Zenger.

  1. First 3C Series discussion about the federal landscape around higher education

Jackson Lewis attorney Monica Khetarpal kicked off the Office for Campus Culture’s new 3C Series with a discussion on how the federal government is impacting higher education. The informational session focused on the executive branch’s interpretation of certain laws, the legality and domain of presidential executive orders and trends among DEI programs in higher education. Khetarpal also explained some of the nuances of the changes for the 30 staff, students and friends of Illinois Wesleyan in attendance.  

OCC’s new series will feature lectures, discussions and workshops that revolve around current cultural events and complex topics that may require closer examination.
