After a top 5 finish in the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate Invitational on Sunday, March 22, Titan men’s golf looks forward to hosting their first home tournament of the season at Ironwood Golf Course April 4-5.

The tournament looks to showcase 33 teams in NCAA division three, with all nine of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams making an appearance.

Of the 33 teams, only three appear in the top 20 rankings, with Illinois Wesleyan climbing the highest, standing at ninth.

Aurora University following closely behind in spot number 10, then the Minnesota team in Gustavus Adolphus College taking the 16 spot.

Looking a little bit broader at the rankings, nine of the 33 teams all have top 50 spots in all of Division three, making this invite a competitive one.

The last 2024-25 season, men’s golf hosted the same home invite April 4-5, coming away in first place out of 38 teams.

Returning players senior Myles Lahart and sophomore Pablo Castro finished in the top 10, with both tied for eighth at 72.

In their recent Spring break trip in the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate, the Titans tied for seventh overall out of 30 teams, Castro finishing with the most notable performance individually, tied for third at 204.

The next Titan in the standings being senior Michael Spitzer, tying for 17th. Castro’s performance brought a new career milestone for him with his 54-hole low of 204.

After the IWU home invite, men’s golf will have two more away invites, with the Cochran Collegiate taking them all the way to Memphis, Tennessee, and the Butts Classic hosted by Millikin University, close to home in Decatur.

Then the Titans will tee off on April 29 in Rockford at the Aldeen Golf Club for the CCIW Championships.

The Titans came away victorious in the last CCIW championship with a 280 total that allowed them to move on to the NCAA championship, where they dominated again in first place, finishing with a 290 and earning a banner to hang in the rafters of the Shirk Center.

The tee times are not yet available for the Titans’ home invitational. More information can be found at iwusports.com closer to the event.
