Illinois Wesleyan University’s lacrosse team once again went 1-1 this week, with a sound defeat of University of Dubuque followed by a devastating loss to CCIW rival, Carthage.
The Carthage Red Men outplayed Illinois Wesleyan this past Saturday at Tucci Stadium, beating the Titans 24-6, dropping the men in green to an 8-3 record on the year. Carthage came out of the gates hot with six goals each period.
Illinois Wesleyan goals came from first-year attackers Colin Daly, Andrew Schreiber and Tyler Rauwolf, along with first-year midfielders Michael Julius and Jordan Gagnon. Daly and first-year attackers Evan Mok-Lamme and Tim Smith contributed one assist. First-year goalie Ty Tuey had 11 saves in 45 minutes.
The Titans demolished the University of Dubuque in an offensive slaughter, 21-2. Mok-Lamme led the Titans in scoring with four goals while adding an assist to the stat sheet.
Schreiber and Rauwolf had three goals each, while first-year midfielders Jacob Perry and Connor Coffey as well as Gagnon and Daly each had two. Smith, Julius and first-year midfielder Andy Justl each had one. The Titans outshot Dubuque 50-17 and Perry lead the team with six assists.
All three goalies got playing time in against Dubuque: Tuey had two saves in 30 minutes, first-years Steven Laduzinsky and Jordan Staley each had one in 15 minutes each.
The next battle for the Titans will be the last home game against Transylvania University on Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m. It will be the last home game in the lacrosse careers of seniors Neil Lancaster, Michael Kida and Connor Shanks.
