SOTA presents “Songs For A New World”

March 26

The School of Theatre Arts’ (SOTA) production of “Songs For A New World” will be streaming all day starting on Friday. More viewing details to come. 

Peace Garden hosts “Paint and Plant”

March 25 4-5:30 p.m.

The Peace Garden will host an upcycling event to plant seeds in containers for personal use and to later be planted in the garden. Attendees can paint the containers they bring and a banner that will be displayed in the Peace Garden as well. Attendees are also welcome to come any time throughout the event. ODI presents Joseph Green

March 26, 7 p.m.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) and the Campus Activities Board (CAB) will present speaker, educator and storyteller Joseph Green to give a virtual keynote of social justice poetry speaking to the history of arts in activism. The event will take place in Hansen Student Center and via Zoom.

IWU creates BIPOC Support Community

March 28, 4-5 p.m.

Students, faculty and staff in the IWU community who identify as BIPOC are invited to a virtual community circle to discuss a range of topics that impact and affect our identities and perceptions of self. Conversations can be about any present joy, love, issue or resolution that affects how one sees themselves. The goal of this virtual space is to be in solidarity and community with other BIPOC members. The group is for members of the BIPOC community regardless of major or department. Those who are interested in attending can register here. SOTA and the Shingara Multicultural Theatre Company will sponsor the event. 

Student Senate holds general assembly

March 28, 6 p.m.

All student senate meetings for the Spring 2021 semester will be held via Zoom. All of the meetings are open to the entire student body. Students are encouraged to attend and discuss issues they feel need to be addressed on campus. 

SOA presents 34th student art exhibition

March 29

The Joyce Eichhorn Ames School of Art will have its 34th annual student art exhibition on display starting Monday. All exhibitions are free and open to the public The gallery is open Monday through Friday 2-5 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday 1-4 p.m. More information can be found here.

Academic Skills Series continues

March 29, 7-8 p.m.

Students can join the Action Research Center’s (ARC) weekly drop-in call on Monday evenings. This week’s topic will focus on beating procrastination. Students who are interested in attending should watch the pre-recorded video on the weekly topic here. The Zoom link can be accessed here.

ODI presents “Arab American Identity”

April 1, 4-5:30 p.m.

As part of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s 3D series, this week’s movie will focus on Arab American Identity. The event will take place via Zoom. Those who are interested in attending should email Veronica Torres Luna vtorres@iwu.edu for the link.
