The Coffeehouse and Deli, located in Normal, is an all-vegetarian restaurant and coffee shop that provides a unique dining experience to the Bloomington-Normal community. Whether you want to grab a cup of coffee with a friend, relax and study or enjoy some live music, the coffeehouse is the place to go.
“The coffeehouse is a great place to come and do whatever you want. There’s plenty of room to sit and study, or just enjoy a nice homemade breakfast,” junior Lali Valdivia said.
The vegetarian menu items include veggie macaroni and cheese, tofu breakfast scrambler, tomato basil pesto sandwich and the hummus wrap. Breakfast is served all day long, and lunch and dinner specials vary daily.
Prices for food items range from $1.75 to $6.25. The least expensive option is oatmeal and the most expensive item is the tofu bacon cheeseburger for $6.25. All food items are made to order.
“It’s sometimes difficult to find vegan menu options at restaurants, so the fact that the Coffeehouse has a menu devoted to vegan foods is very refreshing. Plus the food is great and decently priced!” said Normal resident Megan Klinefelter.
The Coffeehouse also roasts, blends and flavors all their Arabica Coffee beans In-House. A wide selection is available for purchase in bulk. For details about the prices of these purchases, please ask upon visiting. They also have a full bakery on site, with pastries, cakes and breads baked daily.
“The coffee is lovely and inexpensive compared to most coffee houses. You walk in and you have an option of the light roast, dark roast, or specialty. Every day they have a different blend on the grind,” said Normal resident Gerald Ernat. “The coolest thing about this place is their roasting of their own coffee, so it is always fresh, local and you know you can’t get it anywhere else.”
A recently-opened coffeehouse, called the Chess Café, is supported by the Coffeehouse and Deli. The Chess Café is now serving coffee, lattes and a vegan menu as well. You can play chess, backgammon and board games. The Chess Café is open Mon-Fri 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sat-Sun 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Coffeehouse and Deli is located 114 East Beaufort Street in Normal, IL. The hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
