Women’s Volleyball
The Illinois Wesleyan women’s volleyball team opened conference play with a decisive victory over Wheaton College, winning in only three sets: 25-21, 25-14, 25-15, on September 18, 2024. The Titans owned the stat book, recording 50 kills compared to Wheaton’s 26 and achieving a remarkable team hitting percentage of .417—the eighth highest in program history. Illinois Wesleyan also led in assists, service aces, blocks and digs. Junior Taylor French shone offensively, scoring 18 kills with an impressive .615 hitting percentage. Senior Abby Erdman added 17 assists to reach her 1,000th career assist, while sophomore Sophia Feeney led with 24 assists, two aces, and five digs. Defensively, French led with nine digs, supported by sophomore Eleanor Palmer, who recorded three blocks. The Titans established control early in each set, maintaining momentum throughout the match and securing a strong start to their conference campaign.
Women’s Golf
The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s golf team finished second at the IWU Fall Classic held on September 15, at their home course. The Titans achieved a final round score of 297 on the par-72 course, placing them as runners-up among 19 teams.
Senior Macy Ludwig led the team with a strong performance, finishing second overall after carding a one-under 71, bringing her tournament total to even-par 144. Other senior contributors included Jadyn Spinks, who tied for 10th with a score of 149, Jacque O’Neill in 14th with 150, and Kylie Hundman, who tied for 18th with a score of 153.
Freshmen Gigi Zera and Breanna Brown recorded personal bests with scores of 74 and 79, respectively, while Grace Fagan matched her career-best with a 78. The team title went to Washington University, led by medalist Tiffany Chan, who finished with a two-day total of 142. The Titans finished with a total of 593. Next, they will compete in the UW-Whitewater Invite from September 22-23 at TPC Wisconsin in Madison. Following her performance, Ludwig was awarded her sixth College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women’s Golfer of the Week, her second this season.
Women’s Tennis
The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s tennis team secured a dominant 6-1 victory over Millikin University on September 18, marking their first win in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) this season.
With this win, the Titans improved to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Senior Kate Christian and freshman Gabi Lipske staged a comeback at No. 2 Doubles, winning 7-5 after trailing 5-0.
The Titans continued their success in singles play, winning five of six matches. Sophomore Amber Ehrlich triumphed at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-4, 6-2. Lipske and Christian followed their doubles win with strong performances, with Lipske winning at No. 3 and Christian dominating 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. The team will next face Elmhurst University on September 23 at 4:15 p.m.
