This past Saturday marked the inaugural competition for the IWU Women’s Bowling team. The team competed at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill. against the Elmhurst Bluejays and the Augustana Vikings. Elmhurst is currently ranked third in CCIW conference standings and Augustana is ranked first. Wesleyan is ranked last, tied with Lakeland College.

The first standard set was against Elmhurst; the Titans lost 451-759. Jade Miller scored 111, Ashley Cook scored 70, Sarah Buchmann scored 65, Shea Atkins scored 104, and Macy Michorczyk scored 101. On the baker set against Elmhurst, which consisted of four frames total, the Titans lost 442-862.

The second round was against Augustana with the Titans losing 559-808. On this baker set, the Titans lost 546-732.

While this season is off to a rocky start, the Titans showed a clear progression throughout the tournament and will no doubt continue to improve as the season continues.

“It was great getting to get out and compete for the first time this season. It was really exciting for the team and I, and we look forward to the rest of the season,” Coach Anthony Lunsford said.

The Titan’s next tournament will be held this Saturday, at Bowlero in Naperville and hosted by North Central College. CCIW regulation states that no spectators are allowed during COVID.
