The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s volleyball team keeps postseason hopes afloat with back-to-back conference wins.

Titans win in four sets (3-1) over Augustana College on Saturday, April 1.

Coming off of a much-needed win over North Park University, the Titans imposed their will onto the Vikings winning their second conference match of the year.

Sophomore Vince Dicosola garnered Setter of The Week for the CCIW after a 34-assist game.

“It’s really awesome to see such great performances from Vinny get recognized from this past week,” junior hitter Julian Perez said. “It means a lot to the team that he stepped up in two clutch games and did what needed to be done for us to win.”

A milestone moment in team history as Perez recorded his 100th block in his career in the second set of the match.

“It’s a great accomplishment and all but this year didn’t go entirely the way we wanted it to go. Next season is ours to take, we just need to put the work in,” Perez said.

IWU dominated in all facets of the game leading in nearly all stats, kills (49-44), aces (6-2), blocks (8-6) and attack percentage (.248-.167)

The Titans had three players record double-digit kill statlines. A pair of sophomores Ryan Myers and Jake Kougan each had 12 kills. Followed closely behind junior Michael Eastman who had 10 on the night.

The Titans close out the season returning to the friendly confines of the Shirk Center. IWU will host Loras College on Saturday, April 8 with hopes of reaching the CCIW postseason tournament.

We need to just come out guns blazing. We have nothing to lose, so we just need to get out there and play with confidence,” Perez said. “If we have the right guys out there I truly believe we can compete with any of these ranked teams.”
