IWU fraternities recruit for Spring Rush 2021

Feb. 3-6, 6-9 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan’s TKE and Theta Chi fraternities will be hosting recruitment events throughout the week via Zoom. All Zoom links can be found on their Instagram pages and will be available the day of the event. Contact Recruitment Chairs Brennan Barrett or Clay Anderson for more information.

 

APSI presents Spring 2021 Recruitment

Feb. 4-12

Illinois Wesleyan’s Co-Ed fraternity Alpha Psi Lambda will be hosting events throughout this week and next week to recruit new members. For more information, contact the associate member educator at mnguyen4@iwu.edu.

 

FCA to begin meetings

Mondays 5:45 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be having meetings every Monday evening in Shirk Center. All current students, past athletes and sports fans are welcome to attend. Those who are interested will be required to wear a mask, practice social distancing and no food or drink allowed.

 

SASA hosts de-stressing arts and crafts event

Feb. 6, 1-3 p.m. 

Illinois Wesleyan students, faculty and staff can join the South Asian Student Alliance (SASA) to destress by making clay plots in Hansen Student Center. 

 

SEP program for BIPOC students

Feb. 8 11:59 p.m.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) and the Hart Career Center are sponsoring a Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) for students of color and international students. SEP 2021 includes a paid internship, training workshops and a summer-long community project. The program will run from June 1 to Aug. 1 and students will be housed on campus at no cost. Applications are due February 8 before midnight. For more information, email student-diversity@iwu.edu

 

Study Abroad Week goes virtual

Feb. 8 

The international office has put together a full week of virtual activities for study abroad week. Each day of the week there will be live and pre-recorded sessions, advising sessions with the study abroad providers, conversations with returned “iwubroaders”, video releases, Instagram takeovers, giveaways and more. Academic Skills Series continues

Feb. 8, 6-7 p.m. 

Students can join the weekly Academic Skills Series drop-in call on Monday evenings. This week the topic will focus on note-taking and test-taking skills. Students who are interested in attending should watch the pre-recorded video on the weekly topic at https://www.iwu.edu/academics/skills/.

 

IWU presents “take and make” activism magnets event

Feb. 9, 3-5 p.m. 

Students who are looking for an opportunity to destress and demonstrate their passion for activism can stop by Hansen Student Center to pick up a magnet take and make kit. Kits will be available from 3-5 or while supplies last. 

 

ODI 3D series continues

Feb. 11, 4 p.m. 

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) Spring 2021 3D series will be taking place via Zoom this year. This week’s series will include a keynote speaker for Black History Month. Those interested in attending should contact vtorres@iwu.edu for the Zoom link which will be provided closer to the date of the event. 

 

The Writing Centers hosts “Douglass Day: Transcribe-a-Thon”

Feb. 12-14 

The Writing Center will be hosting a virtual workshop that allows writers with an interest in historical documents, the contributions of Black people in America or the contemporaries of Frederick Douglas the opportunity to work with the worldwide organization, DouglassDay.org, to create electronic versions of several handwritten documents. CAB presents “Stuff a Plush”

Feb. 12,  5-7 p.m. 

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will be hosting a Build-A-Bear-like event where students can come by and grab their own “plush” to “stuff to life” a new friend. The event will take place in Hansen Student Center.
