Language School for Kids Annual Language & Culture Festival

Saturday, October 1, 12:00pm -1:00pm

Eckley Quadrangle

 

The Language School for Kids will host an event open to the local community with crafts for the kids and family, a story time in different languages, live music in Spanish and Chinese, raffles and the traditional one dollar book sale. There will be free parking at the event. 

 

School of Theatre Arts: Appropriate

Jerome Mirza Theatre, McPherson Hall

 

Ashley H., guest director, will take over Branden Jacobs-Jenkins work, “Time Out Chicago.” . The performance is about three siblings who’s father’s death brings them together in their Arkansas home. They discover something disturbing when looking through their father’s possessions, and go down a series of events. The play won the Obie Award in 2014 for Best New American Play, as it breaks down the truth about a white family accepting their unsettling past.

BSU takes over the campus this week, with a silent disco to kick off the weekend. Increasingly popular, silent discos set a quiet environment for people to dance to the beat only they can hear.

It’s the first Sunday of the month, and that means it’s time for ODI’s monthly potluck. Students and staff come together to share food, laughs, and memories in the MC house, starting the month on a good note. 

 

Black Student Union Week: 2nd Annual BIPOC Bash

The BIPOC Bash is back again this year, inviting BIPOC students from the IWU campus to the MC house. The bash is a space for students to come together and get familiar with welcoming spaces and people. 

 

Career and Internship Fair

Shirk Center 

 

IWU’s Hart Career Center will be bringing over 70 employers, including State Farm, GROWMARK, MoLo Solutions and many more to campus. Students are welcome to dress in business casual attire, bring their resumes, and get familiar with the job market.
