Things go bump in the night at Gulick Hall

Gulick Hall houses a new group of freshmen every year. Many have come and gone, but others may have stayed behind – returned as alumni, or something else entirely.

Gulick Hall is rumored to be haunted, and there are strange happenings throughout the building. After interviewing students, I heard some interesting claims that gave me, and hopefully others, more insight into the supposedly haunted building.

Gulick resident Sammy Valdez claimed to see something odd. “I’d be in the bathroom and see someone walk in, and they would never come back out. I’ve seen this occur one too many times. They would walk in and never walk out. I’d still be the only one in the bathroom. Gave me the chills,” Valdez said.

Chandler Gardner told of a second unnatural experience. “One night, I was coming back to my dorm on the second floor late at night and there weren’t many people around. When I got to my room and started to turn off the lights for the night I began to feel an eerie aura,” Gardner said. “The air seemed to have a thickness to it and my room was quieter. I heard my doorknob turn and be released, returning to its untouched state. I ran to the door and opened it, but no one was there and nothing was out of place. I still have questions about this creepy occurrence.”

Ankitha Shaji mentioned “Late in the evenings, I’d go to the study room to talk with my parents on the phone. As I talked to them, I  heard wailing. It’s confusing because no one is ever around. I walked around to see if anyone was in the other rooms but there wasn’t anyone else.” Shaji was freaked out by the occurrence.

It’s often the small things that add up to bigger issues. These occurrences are signaling towards an unwanted aura. Maybe it’s all in the residents’ heads, but how can we explain the other rumors surrounding Gulick Hall, like the infamous bathtub? What if these things link up to something even bigger? Things break on their own, footsteps in the halls when no one is there, and random sobs in the dead of the night – things like these aren’t what one may normally experience.

These experiences confirm that something is odd about Gulick Hall. What we thought were empty halls seem to be occupied with something’s presence. Whatever it is, it’s important to keep a lookout, for no one knows what may happen.
