Titans bounce back with big win against Vikings

The Titans defeated the winless North Park Vikings at home in a nine-point victory on Saturday, October 15. 

IWU trailed 34-21 going into the fourth quarter, but put up 22 unanswered points to finish the game on top of the Vikings 43-34. 

Sophomore quarterback Jay Lemenager had a solid outing on Saturday. He threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Lemenager also gained 70 yards and scored another touchdown on the ground. 

Junior running back Seth Albin succeeded in the running game as well. Albin tallied 72 rushing yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns.

Senior wide receiver Charlie Hamilton had his best outing of the season. Hamilton earned 143 receiving yards on 10 catches and scored another two touchdowns for the Titans. 

On defense, sophomore linebacker Frank Roti had a great game. Roti forced a fumble for the Titans and capped off the game with a 70-yard pick six. The interception was Roti’s first of the year and resulted in his first touchdown as a Titan. Roti also earned a team-high eight tackles in the game. 

Sophomore defensive lineman Zach McNees also had a solid outing for the Titans with two tackles for a loss. 

After their win against North Park, Illinois Wesleyan stands at 3-2 in the CCIW and 4-2 overall. 

The Titans will host Carthage College on Saturday, October 22 in another crucial CCIW matchup for IWU.

Wesleyan is undefeated at home this year and the Titans hope to continue that streak against Carthage.
