The Titans lost in an away game against the Augustana Vikings on Saturday, Oct. 29. After the 24-21 loss, Illinois Wesleyan sits at 5-3 with a CCIW record of 4-3.

IWU led Augustana 10-0 heading into halftime, but the Titans weren’t able to get much going offensively in the second half and fell victim to 21 unanswered points from the Vikings.

Sophomore quarterback Jay Lemenager posted a solid outing, completing 18 of his 35 pass attempts for 237 yards and a touchdown that put IWU down by three with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter.

The sophomore signal caller also led the Titans’ rushing attack, boasting 60 yards on 14 carries and another touchdown on the ground.

Lemenager spread the ball pretty evenly around the wide receiver room with six pass catchers earning more than one reception.

Senior wide receiver Charlie Hamilton led the corps with five catches for 91 yards. Junior wideout Matt Young also contributed to IWU’s success with 47 yards and his first touchdown of the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior defensive back Anthony Wachal Jr. added another interception to his resume. He also broke up one pass and earned six tackles on the day.

Sophomore linebacker Frank Roti also put forth a valiant effort with one interception and 1.5 tackles for a loss.

The Titans will need to bounce back from the loss quickly as they’re set to play No. 1 ranked North Central College on Saturday, Nov. 5 in their Senior Day matchup. The Cardinals haven’t allowed a point in four games, and IWU will look to break that streak.
