Womens’ basketball triumphed over the Carroll University Pioneers on February 1 in the Shirk Center.

Illinois Wesleyan honored Coach Mia Smith at Saturday’s game with their 13th annual Pink Zone Game.

The Titans maintained a strong early lead allowing them to finish 73-57 against their opponents.

Leading the team in points, sophomore Brooke Lansford captured 13 points against the Pioneers.

Sosa led the team in steals earning three throughout the game.

Senior Sydney Shanks totaled 12 points in the competition leaving Carroll crushed.

Paired with Samantha Munroe’s 12 points throughout the game, the Pioneers didn’t stand a chance.

Faltering a bit in the third quarter, the Pioneers briefly cut the lead to 10 points.

But the Titans quickly bumped up the lead back to double digits in the fourth with points from Katelyn Heller, Riley Brovelli, Sosa and Shanks.

The Titans’ dominant defense totaled 10 blocks throughout the game preventing the Pioneers from catching up to the Titans’ lead.

Brovelli and Catie Eck lead the team in blocks totaling three each throughout the game.

Totaling 10 points throughout the game, Brovelli proved a powerful opponent.

Quick points from the Titan starters allowed the team to stay in the top-three for CCIW moving their conference record to 7-3 overall.
