IWU’s women’s basketball team lost to Carroll University in a crushing 75-57 game on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Titans entered the game hot off a five game win streak, including a 100-point victory against Elmhurst. Wesleyan now sits at a record of 6-3 (1-1 in the CCIW).

Senior guard Katelyn Heller led the Titans with 12 points, but struggled from the field. Heller finished the game shooting 6-15. The fourth-year also grabbed three rebounds and a block to help the Titans down low. Heller was also able to earn four assists and two steals for the Green and White.

Sophomore guard Kate Palmer also had a steal in the game. Palmer shot 3-6 from three, providing a slight spark for the Titans throughout the matchup. Palmer finished with nine points, all coming from her threes.

The difference in the game came from points in the paint. Entering their game against Carroll, Wesleyan had outscored their opponents 368-280 on points in the paint this season. In their matchup on Saturday, Carroll outscored IWU 48-22 down low. The Titans’ struggles to score in the key led to a 32.4 field goal percentage. 

The Green and White are set to take on North Central on Saturday, Dec. 10 in another CCIW matchup.
